ACCA: 13-Territory Inspection Dept., Episode 9

Last week, I wondered where Natsume Ono and Shingo Natsume would take us from here. Luckily, it turns out there were a lot of enthralling places we could go, from Schwan’s cunning manipulation of the first princess into going after Lotta to Magie following his own conscience and taking action against his prince’s intentions. After all the praise for Abend’s unquestioning loyalty, this was a nice touch of protest that provided some much-needed development for Rail’s little arc within the… Continue Reading →

Chaos;Child, Episode 8

Life hasn’t been good to Taku lately. After his best friend was mind-controlled to kill his little sister in the most grotesque way imaginable, the person he knew as his big sister turns out to be an impersonation by the girl they suspected to be behind it all, the very one Itou allegedly killed Yui for in revenge. Good thing he’s still got his good old childhood friend Onoe to rely on, who will surely help him through this horrible–aw,… Continue Reading →

ACCA: 13-Territory Inspection Dept., Episode 8

Episode 8 leaves me relieved for two reasons. After spending some time in the kingdom’s district of strong women, Schnee’s alarming interest in the outside world and philosophy books led to an amicable agreement to set her free instead of clipping her wings. My theory of the king being in on… Continue Reading →

Chaos;Child, Episode 7

If you think being forced to shove a rebar down your throat and then self-immolate is already a harsh way to die, you might not want to watch the last 10 minutes of this episode. By the time we fade to black, Taku will have a family member wrapped in ironic little packages, dismembered by his best friend, leading to my initial reaction of an overwhelming “WTF did I just watch”. The show didn’t give us much reason to care… Continue Reading →

ACCA: 13-Territory Inspection Dept., Episode 7

The cat is out of the bag. Even though the big reveal itself wasn’t much of a shocker, all the little interactions leading up to it provided excellent buildup for the episode’s climax, carefully adding bits and pieces from the perspectives of different players, creating tension and urgency despite Jean’s own non-reaction. Princess Schnee (who might be the one dancing in the ED) escaped her royal bird cage by faking her death, so that she could run away with a… Continue Reading →
